Whats the spanish word for Drama?

With a fairly uneventful offseason for the Bengals (in the way of negative press), the media has decided to manufacture a feud between Carson Palmer and Chad (Johnson) Ochocinco. While I agree, Carson is making statements that are in essence calling out Chad, I don't think it is as dramatic as the media is making it out to be.

With Quotes like:

"We had a very talented team, but after 2005 we couldn't come together like we needed to. I think the true team concept was somewhat lacking. You've got to love being a part of this team and sacrifice some individual goals for the team."

It is pretty obvious that Carson is calling Chad out. Isn't this what the media has ridden Carson for all along? Didn't they want him to stand up to Chad? Now Carson is being a vocal leader of a team he has been a silent leader of for a long time. Personally I think it is just Carson motivating Chad the best way he knows how. With this and the HBO cameras I think there is more than enough motivation for 85 to come and play hard. If the Bengals win a few games Cincinnati will embrace Ochocinco like they used to and hang on his every action.

It is funny how winning changes everything right?

Roy Williams in the house

The Bengals have made another offseason move to shore up the defense in adding a guy that just loves to hit. Roy Williams formerly of the Dallas Cowboys has agreed to a deal with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Len Pasquarelli reports:

The seven-year veteran was a fixture in Dallas' interior secondary until his release. He was named to five Pro Bowl teams and one All-Pro squad. During his career with the Cowboys, Williams had 611 tackles, 6 1/2 sacks, 19 interceptions and 56 passes defensed. Blessed with the instincts of a safety and the hitting power of a linebacker, Williams was often a liability in pass coverage. He was at his best playing close to the line of scrimmage and was an effective defender versus the run. Zimmer knows Williams well and should be able to design a defense that emphasizes his strong points.

Here are what I see as the positives of this move:

1. A little more swagger

on D from a guy that will knock your head off.

2. Teams back up with Zimmer who knows what to expect from him.

3. Wants to be in the Nati, (read cincyJungle's post)

4. Has been to 5 probowls. He knows how to play the game.

We Are down a tackle

The Bengals must have some confidence in Anthony Collins and Andre Smith because today they released Levi Jones. Anyone close to the Bengals can't be too surprised at this move as it has been rumored for some time.

I don't understand why there was no effort to try and get value for him. By saying he will be traded or released you have essentially played your hand and teams will not be willing to part with anything of value. Even a 4th round pick for a tackle does not sound unreasonable to me.

Levi has been a solid player for the Bengals and I wish him well. I am also nervous that this leaves us pretty thin for offensive line depth.
