First Half Game Balls

Friday, November 9, 2007

DMo’s picks for game balls given out for the first eight games of the season:

Offense: T.J. Houshmandzadeh WR: He’s always had the best, most clutch hands on the team. It’s almost like the offense goes to Chad when it wants a home run, it goes to T.J. when it needs a hit. But this season, he’s really showing what he can do. He leads the team in TDs and receptions.

Honorable mention: Kenny Watson RB: Simply for being exactly what we needed when Rudi went down. Of course, Rudi comes back and Watson disappears from the running game against Buffalo. But in that game he led the team in catches! I don’t care if he’s the “back-up” running back, we need to run more plays through Kenny Watson.

Defense: Madieu Williams S: Well, you got to give it to someone, so I’ll reward Madieu for his 53 total tackles, 1 sack and 1 interception. I just wish he were more consistent wrapping guys up and putting them on the ground. The whole defense, actually.

Honorable mentions: I don’t really want to spread the love here, because the whole unit doesn’t deserve it. But Robert Geathers is showing how much of a team player he is by agreeing to move to LB after a career year on the D-Line last year.

Special teams: Glenn Holt KR/WR: Hey, he ran 100 yards for a touchdown, then got his teeth knocked out during the celebration. I think that is pretty representative of the team this year.
